Grand Farm is excited to welcome Linnea French to the team! Linnea is joining us as our Upper Midwest Program Coordinator. She helps support the growth and coordination of Grand Farm’s regional initiatives by building connections, supporting programs, and helping advance collaboration across the agricultural innovation ecosystem. Her work plays a key role in strengthening partnerships and creating opportunities for the continued development of emerging agricultural technologies throughout the Upper Midwest.

Tell us a little bit about you!

“I grew up in Crookston, MN – neither of my parents works in agriculture. My father is a music teacher and organist, while my mother works in travel planning. However, Crookston taught me to love soil when I worked for the UMN out of their research center, so I came to the FM area for school (roll Cobbs!). I traveled to Australia, Tanzania, and Nebraska to work with farmers and their soil/conservation panning before I accepted this position. I love reading (goal is 240 books every year), handbells, and nerding out over weird science things I see on the internet.”

What college did you attend? What was your major?

“Concordia College-Moorhead, majored in Biology, Environmental Studies-Natural Science, and Communication Studies.”

What’s one activity that energizes you?

“Bug catching, specifically insects.”

If you could take a 30 day, all expense paid vacation, where or how would you spend your time?

“I would take a pit stop in Australia before touring Asia. I haven’t been to most of Eastern Asia, so I want to explore that region.”

Do you have a favorite book or movie?

“Why Fish Don’t Exist: A Story of Loss, Love, and the Hidden Order of Life by Lulu Miller”

Tell us one random fact about yourself!

“I am a nationally recognized handbell performer and play with different groups around the States.”

What’s your favorite part about living in the FM area? What’s your favorite hidden gem that Fargo has to offer?

“I love how community driven the FM area is. River Oaks Park is a place I frequent with my dog. The community over there is surprisingly tight and inclusive. More than once they’ve helped me out and vice versa. I loved to study there.”

Why are you excited to work for Grand Farm?

“The vibes are stellar. Everyone seems willing to help and work with me as I start out. I’m excited to grow into my role and hopefully bring something to this organization.”
