What's Our Goal?
Energized by Emerging Prairie, Grand Farm accelerates research and innovation to develop technologies of the farm of the future. Essentially, we provide a neutral platform for projects and demonstrations that energizes collaboration amongst interested parties.
Our aspiration is to build an Epcot-like experience, designed for agriculture and developed in partnership with public and private entities. The physical space would be anchored by an innovation center, which will serve as the center for American enterprise and agriculture innovation.
Site Selection Process
Working with regional partners, Emerging Prairie will identify three to five incorporated towns in the search area that demonstrate potential to accommodate the proposed Grand Farm Campus. We will initiate open and collaborative discussions with leaders in those communities to energize interest from local leaders and seek their engagement in Grand Farm activities.
We hope to complete Phase 1 by June 15th, 2021.
Once those communities are identified, we will undertake a collaborative and more detailed property and location evaluation in Phase 2. The Site Selection Committee will work with local leaders to energize the community in developing their proposal.
Critical factors we will be assessing in each proposal include, but are not limited to:
- Community support and leadership engagement
- Agricultural land with access to highways, airports, and rail
- Infrastructure - access to power, gas, water, sewer, fiber, and satellite
Local leaders will be empowered by state and regional partners to develop robust proposals for the long-term home of the Grand Farm Campus.
Phase Two will take place from June 15th, 2021 through July 15th, 2021. Proposals are due on July 30th, 2021.
During the final phase of site selection, the Site Selection Committee and Grand Farm Board of Directors will visit the finalist communities to meet with local leaders and learn firsthand about each proposal. The outcome of this additional due diligence is expected to lead to a final location decision, pending negotiations and agreements for economic development incentives and property purchase and sale.
The announcement of the long-term site for the Grand Farm Campus is expected to be made on or before September 16th, 2021.
